Officers mentioned they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau smeared with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they reported in a release.

Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued fluid.

The liquid had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they stated.

Police then discovered multiple other smeared automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

Swastikas are illegal in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement report preliminary tests suggest the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; officials are currently not aware of any injuries in association with the occurrence," they commented.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have asked to the community for information.

An important official stated the vandalism made him without words and required to be resolved promptly.

"This incident affects the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the far-right attack in 2020," he stated on online, mentioning the murder of nine individuals by a assailant targeting people of migrant background in February 2020.
